Midnight Surprise
One day, about 40 years ago, my family and I were hiking in the mountains of Colorado when we came across an old collapsed miner's cabin.  There, on the ground, was was a window frame still intact.  I couldn't resist taking it home.  While working in a potash plant in Carlsbad New Mexico, I surprised a mother owl at the top of a ship's ladder. Later, I again surprised her with my camera all set.  So I put them together with my father-in-law's old lantern that hung many years in his cow barn.  The lighting is by flashlight recounting my early days when my brother and I, one late night on a moonlight hike, explored a spooky old house.  This is one of my favorite paintings.  I hope you like it.
