This painitng had it's beginnings way back when.  I think about two years before we went on a mission to South Africa,I did the prelimiary sketches from poses by several models, historical photographs and a number of my fantasy drawings.  It hung on my walls in the half-done stage for about four more years.  It was finally finished for the LDS 2006 International Competition and Exhibit and hung in the Church Art Museaum for the duration of that event.

I hoped in this painting to show my reverence for our pioneer heratage, which really belongs to just about everyone in our great nation, but then, also to say that we are in the hands of God and that our journey is far from over.  It is fitting that the comosition be buuild around the golden mean
